Oshkosh FMTV 2010 Flexible Tactical Wheel Vehicle – Oshkosh FMTV is a Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles with different vehicle categories, ranging from 2.5-ton to 5-ton payloads and variant vehicles based on a common chassis, which varies by charge and mission requirements. Oshkosh FMTV consists of tactical wheel vehicles based on common truck cabins, chassis, and internal components and two tactical trailers.
These components are mainly non-development items that are integrated in rough tactical configurations. Oshkosh FMTV, all automatic, comes in 14 variations of cargo and van weighing 2.5 tons and cargo, tractor, van, junk, tanker and dump truck weighing 5 tons. Eighty percent equality of spare parts, same engine, transmission, driveline, electric train, tire, cabin.
What the soldiers like about Oshkosh FMTV is its comfortable ride, shorter turning radius that makes it more maneuverable, and an improved cargo roof. The pitch of the over-steel overlapped arc was upgraded and replaced the tarpaulin over the aluminum, after a number of cargo roofs collapsed under heavy loads. Armor crew protectors and advanced technology work together to provide the ability, flexibility, mobility and protection to move troops and supplies, restore vehicles and weapon systems or transport equipment wherever needed by missions.
